ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The New Year can be a great time to reflect on the past year and to clarify what we are calling in for the year ahead.
Yin yoga works on the 5-elements of nature as understood in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is a deeply focussed and facilitated practice where you drop inwards to feel and release deep tensions held within. Through the process, as you still the mind and let go, you will experience greater clarity and a deeper feeling of inner peace, thereby enhancing your general sense of wellbeing and vitality.
As nature all around us is going through its natural process of change, all peoples who live from the earth instinctively know that the ‘nature’ within them follows the same patterns. Humans go through the cycle of seasons within themselves; the elements are recreated within us. What is happening outside is also happening within us all. Therefore at each season as there is a change of the energies, it is really beneficial for us to tune in and align to these changes.
In Summer blossoms yield to fruit in the process of ripening, things come to fruition and the earth is full of plenty, life and warmth. The same process of fruition and ripening is happening within us with our thoughts, experiences, our body and emotions.
In this Summer Workshop, which relates to the fire element, we focus on the Heart and Small Intestine Meridians in our yin yoga practice, along with intention-setting activities and yoga nidra to build our creative energy and passion to support the fruition of our intentions and bring greater joy in life. We will connect with our deeper desires and create a personalised ‘Sankalpa’ (a deeper soul intention) for the year ahead.
In the season of Summer, people can experience excess heat hot painful joints, poor circulation, not flushes, heartburn, digestive problems and even feeling parched in mind body and spirit. Yin can be a cooling practice.
Attending this workshop you will experience and learn practices you can take away to support your health and wellbeing this Summer.
